NWS Miami has officially confirmed a tornado struck the Acreage this morning.

Also the sirens are being tested as I'm typing this (no storms in the immediate area)...probably not the best day to do it

Andrea still looking like is heading straight towards Cedar Key, not that it matters much.

FWIW, in Fernandina Beach, far northeast Florida, wind picking up a tad, still a zepher, barameter is 29.86 falling slowly at my house. Raining lightly now, had some heavier rain about 30 minutes ago but nothing substantial.

Based on radar trends it seems that the areas along the coast from Sarasota to Ft. Myers will be in for extended squally weather next.

I'm measuring a forward speed over 26 kts now. At that rate the center will be inland in just over 2 hrs. Strongest winds are in the band of squalls already inland.

Looks like Andrea still holding on to her strength, buoy now reporting 1000mb with tropical force winds so I would think that her pressure is still around 997mb if not a little lower.

And that corresponds "nicely" (if we can use that word in this context) with ground obs and Doppler-indicated tornadoes in that area.

By the time the recon gets there she is almost going to be making landfall.
I find it odd that they did not do missions of every 6 instead of every 12 hrs.
