Looks like a solid 70-80 mph gust, aided by funneling through the buildings, it is very tough to stand in even hurricane force gusts, it is just about about impossible to do so in sustained hurricane force winds.

If that is moving southwest then JB is my uncle. Respectfully agree to disagree. 8-)

Edited by me to add the word "wobble."

I've seen enough 60-115 mph winds/gusts to have a good handle on the effects. IMO, Jim is not in sustained hurricane and those don't even appear to be hurricane force gusts. The lights being on and Jim standing is a good indication there are not hurricane force winds. JMHO :D

Ok a little more info on the Belle Chase flooding. Apparently the city isn't flooded...but the person says his friend lived just south of there, (the one who had to be rescued by jet ski.) So If Aric was indeed in the city..he's probably good to go.

Well, i guess it's a bit of luck that it staled with they eye inland, would not be fun if it had staled like this more south with they eye still over water.

Finally got electricity on here in Pearl River., been off since 5:30am central time. Have some damage to property from downed tree's, but not too bad. Winds have been really gusty here, I would say our highest wind gust was 55 mph.

Folks hit hard in Braithwaite. I think most of the houses there were from the 70's and brick. Used to play golf in the subdivision and now totally underwater and they are rescuing people. Back nine had a huge long hole. Levee is only 8 ft high there. Hope the water is done rising and on the way down now at least. Prayers go out for them.

Stalled again, perhaps before a north turn?

Wow, it almost looks stalled in that radar loop...The flooding in New Orleans MAY potentially be historic when all is said and done...

Not likely. There's no flooding in New Orleans right now, or at least no widespread flooding. Katrina was historic, so if that's the comparison, this is not in the same ballpark.

Is this thing ever gonna die or is it gonna go south and start over? They are saying on tv that we could be in this for another 12 to 24 hours. If it can't go north or west, that leaves south and east. Isaac - the sequel?

Here's a pic my son sent me from the Hard Rock Casino.
