I know I know, I was beig kind of sarcastic  Sorry didn't want to question the independency of Bahamas, keep us informed with observations and news from Bahamas, please and take care.

Jeez, really? Was just refering to the models and what they have been predicting Irene to do. I would never wish a hurricane on anyone and my comment was never meant as such. I live in the US and I watch what happens to all of us. I don't see anything wrong with that.

That is some wobble there! Making a giant loop.

Are these not just wobbles of the "center" of a storm and not wobbles of the "actual" storm itself?
Doesn't a "center" have the tendency to wobble about like the spinning of a top?

If you ask me, this is a pretty tight pressure gradient across SE FL for the chances of getting tropical force winds at least in gust across coastal areas. With pressure falling down to 1000 mb as shown here in the 12z gfs.
The GFS shows over an 1" of rain for Palm Beach areas.

The center or the whole storm? I really don't have a confident answer to that. I was just commenting that it looks like a very pronounced wobble westward, that seems to have lasted a couple hours. I've seen lots of wobbling and stair stepping, but that one looked like a pretty big loop.

FAIR WARNING!!!
Please stay on topic and STOP the snipping back and forth and telling others how they should post or not post or questioning how they would feel if... We all are concerned about Irene and what she is going to do. No one is purposely leaving out some geographical area in their thoughts and discussions. If this type of posting continues staff will begin deletions and/or suspensions without notice.
We have a very dangerous and stressful situation on our hands so let's please keep the discussion to the storm itself.

with the GFS forcasting landfall in New England 4 days out and a solid week of "the trend is our friend" and a constant trend east it's starting to smell very fishy here. We can all hope. This is going to be VERY intersting watching this play out. (please push further east!)
I'm praying to you people on the Bahamas... God's speed.

Hello I am new to this forum. I was wondering if there are any predictions or insights into possible storm surge along the Virginia peninsula? I am on Chincoteague Island and starting to get very worried about Miss Irene.

Good late morning,

For those interested in current conditions in the Caribbean, we have spoken this morning with our neighbors on Provo, T&C. Our home is located there and currently vacant, thus the reason for two long and very sleepless nights.

Still raining in Provo....streets are flooded.....loss of power.....trees and electric poles down.....still too treacherous to venture out to survey further damage to the Island. But, the roof of our home is intact (A good thing....).

All remain safe in the path of Irene....

The NHC will issue statements about storm surge for your area IF and when you get a watch or warning., but you should be listening to your local authorities for that information. I would think the state of Virginia and some more local agencies would already be making some statements at this point.

Do not use the word "fish" as that means the storm will not affect anyone at all, but literally the fish. Use words like recurve out to sea or a CONUS miss because Irene already made landfall in Puerto Rico and she's blasting through the Bahamas right now.
