They must have heard you, Luis.
It's clearly making another run up in intensity. Look at the impressive wall of convection - it has almost completely wrapped around the center now. And it's time for DMAX.

Re: ATL: KATIA - Hurricane - Discussion
Sure looks like 115 knots to me. Although the outer wall is not closed on the SW side, that is a REALLY wide band of convection wrapping around the eye.

Eclipse season occurs twice a year. For station-kept satellites, the spring eclipse season runs from approximately 26 February until 12 or 13 April. The fall eclipse season runs from approximately 30 or 31 August until 15 October. For inclined orbit satellites, the eclipse season starts and ends a little earlier, depending on the satellite's inclination.

See http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/SATS/eclipse.html .With GOES-13, there isn't nearly as much of a black-out period (as compared to past satellites) as it can operate through the eclipse.

So, what were you saying? It's all a question of patience, hurricanes go through this fluctuations all the time, sure we've had more struggling this season than last year but the conditions did look good enough for Katia to strengthen.

No, or barely any to notice. I have seen a few frames skipped here and there at night, but they seem to have it covered pretty well. So just sit back and enjoy the show.

It didn't get affected much at all by that first trough that it passed last night, and it looks like it just ate the second one for dinner.
