Re: ATL: Hurricane EARL - Discussion
it is not that we are worried but just concerned
it is easy to say dont worry when you are not in the cone
and each shift westard gives us a moment of palse
the next 24 hours will be really important
and this is a big holiday week end coming up espeiclaly for those us with a business at the beach
oour last big week end till memorial day

Excellent point. I would imagine there is a large number of people getting ready to head to the beach for one last summer bash this wekeend who have no idea this storm is potentially heading that way. However, I would imagine the local mets and stations will flood the airwaves starting tonight.

Raw T# just went to 6.3.
The eyewall hot-tower did the trick.
Eyewall is closing up.
I am afraid RI maybe underway.

Patiently waiting for the eye to become more defined! It looks really good on the visible.

Are these Meteo france images distorted? 97L looks a whole lot closer to Ealr than is depicted on other maps....just curious.
Certainly... they are not better than a good visible

If this thing was potentially heading in your direction, I think you'd be a little concerned. We don't have these kind of storms up here like you and are WAAAAY overdue for one.

I think as this intensifys, the wobble may be due to vortex tilting.
The tilting allows the core to stretch and spin faster.
Most likely it will settle down and stay on track.

Will be able to verify this with the next few radar scans but, Earl's been doing NW/W jogs all morning so, we'll see.

Lets hope if you get this you'll get the west side of the storm. Alot of the homes are wood frame construction up north, not like Florida. If this can stay 100 to 200 miles to your east I think you'll be ok. Lets hope.

Starting to look like a beautiful 'cane! For those that are in the cone (as I am here in east NC), just stay vigilant and prepare what you need to prepare. We don't know where this is going and won't know for CERTAIN for a good 2-3 days from now. Get prepared and relax in knowing you've done all you can do. If it affects you, ride it out as best you can. Prepare for worst, hope for best. Personally, I am cautiously optimistic that this thing will be shushed out to sea and not make any direct landfall on the east coast at all.
