Yeah, but with it's history, I doubt too many folks are ready to stick a fork in it just yet.

Lighntings are making a bright show
! The first squall lines are moving quickly now on Guadeloupe, strong cells bring a very nice convective activity. Thunder is loudy, rain is falling, wind is blowing in small gusts. No power outages for now but tkink we're won't be so far if things continue to deteriorate... If you don't see me you know why.

Re: ATL: Ex-Tropical Storm GASTON - Discussion
Here in San Juan, it all started around 3:30 AM with the first big band when heavy showers and loud thunder roared thru. But winds so far are normal in the 10-15 mph range. It looks like the rest of the day will be like this as the system moves westward. The circulation appears gone.

Yep, this is what I'm seeing on visible and rainbow imagery this morning a storm with circulation, convection increasing passing through the Lesser Antilles heading for a position south of PR. This is our player this year folks, put you seat belts on. Not to bad on radar either...but you have to look east of PR that's where the storm appears to be.

overcast here, and breezy, no rain.
Wind is from the East at about 13 MPH.
definitely a non event for us.
Looks like most of the convection is South of us, over Guadeloupe.
Stay dry Gusty!

It may look like garbage now but if it reaches those incredibly warm waters in the western Caribbean, watch out! I’m just not willing to write this off just yet.HURAKAN wrote:http://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/tcdat/tc10/ATL/09L.GASTON/vis/geo/1km_zoom/20100907.1115.goes13.x.vis1km_high.09LGASTON.25kts-1010mb-171N-610W.100pc.jpg

I was also surprised that the NHC kept the remains at 70% for as long as they did...
As Bill said in Twister, "He has the technology but not the instincts", and weather does require instinct to know it on an intimate level, the same as fishing, hunting, farming or anything to do with the Earth...
Perhaps there was too much reliance on technology instead of the old instincts which showed otherwise, at least in the short term...
The environment hasn't been very favorable at all - perhaps it might do something in the western Caribbean, as some have said, but even then it appears to be headed for the Pacific, as others have mentioned here...
