Question on PMs

#1 Postby The Big Dog » Mon Jul 25, 2005 4:23 pm

When I send a PM, it sits in my outbox for hours. Is it supposed to be that way? The last few I've sent do this.

If it's in your outbox, it hasn't been read. If it's in your sent box, it has been.

PM the person and tell them to go to their inbox. Um...no, wait...

Sometimes, in the midst of a thread, while replying to someone publicly, it helps to toss them a friendly reminder ("Check your PM's!") if you've sent something to them and they haven't read it yet. Some people aren't used to receiving private messages on forums, especially on particular ones. For example, I'm on a handful of other forums (mostly as a lurker) and I'd never anticipate receiving a PM. Also, not everyone has their profile set so that they'll receive a pop-up and/or email alerting them that they have a PM.

Ah, so that's how it works. Different from email.

Thanks! :-)
