Posts marked already read when they're not

#1 Postby GalvestonDuck » Thu Jun 24, 2004 8:35 am

Most of the time, when I'm here, I'm multi-tasking with work and weather and everything else. Sometimes, I'll pop in, read a few posts in one forum, and then leave for a few and come back later to catch up on more. But when I do that -- or if my browser closes and I have to open it again -- all the posts that were marked unread are marked read. So I have to look carefully to see what I might be missing.

Is there something I can do to change that and keep it from happening? Should I not have the box checked for keeping me logged in? Should I change board styles? I already checked my profile and there's nothing in there about automatically marking them all read when I leave.

Thanks! :)

K.. It happens to me at work.. But not at home. At home I have auto log in set up and so the posts stay marked for me when I leave and come back.. Once I get to work though its a different story. Ill check into it for you

Cool, thanks!

And I guess obviously I shouldn't say "ten minutes" later because by then, there are new posts. But, for example, if I leave the forum to go to news really quick so I can bring back an article or :) Snopes something, that's when it happens. The worst is when I haven't been here for a while and I have lots to read (like in the mornings). Obviously, when I first come here, I know what's unread, but if the browser gets closed before I'm done...I'm lost.

It's not a major deal except I know it's gonna get really busy in the tropics forums and I don't want to miss anything. :)

Thanks, Chad!
