Editing posts in Barometer Bob's moderated forums

I noticed last night that we are unable to edit or delete our own posts in the two forums Barometer Bob is moderator of... is this done on purpose and if so why. I (as you may know), feel editing my posts is necessary; a lot of message board users don't use this important feature.
