"XML page cannot be displayed" error

#1 Postby ColdFront77 » Wed Nov 26, 2003 5:50 pm

The "XML page cannot be displayed" error inflates views if you continously refresh threads. I have heavily inflated them in a couple threads in the several minutes because of this problem.

Can we try this one again? I have no idea what you mean by "inflates views". :-(

Tom said he had to refresh several times before the page came up because he kept getting a "The XML page cannot be displayed" error.

Every refresh will cause the page views to increase. So that's normal. The "XML page cannot be displayed" error is not part of the board because we don't use XML we use PHP unless it's just a bug in IE. I did a search on Microsoft's Support Site and found nothing either....

The first 3 lines of this page's source code:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" dir="ltr">

That looks like you do to me, FYI. ;)

Sorry Marshall. I am using the word "inflated" in terms of the number of views jumping up higher than they should be when continually refreshing the page to try to access the thread.

I thought I would kindly explain why there are so many views on some threads.

Thanks.

thanks Tom! Joshua, on the XML you need to read the source a little further. The actual doc type is:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<meta http-equiv="Content-Style-Type" content="text/css" />

You may have put me on to something though. This isn't the identical issue but very close. :-)

Could this be the same issue that causes the "No posts exist for this topic" bug in some threads? :-?

You're welcome, Marshall and thank you, too. :)

I was getting the "No posts exist for this topic" bug in some threads recently, as well.

I'll take a screenshot of it next time I get it so you can see where I get it; then I'll detail how I got it. ;)

Just got this error myself for the first time...

The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
