I still doubt its a hurricane, by the technical definition at this point. True 50KT sustained winds are probably as high as they are now.

Yea, I was going to ask the same thing. Deploying something in the gulf of mexico?

the AXBT is a bouy that we drop... its much larger than the sondes....

it measures SSTs per depth prior to hurricanes
