I don't wish this thing on anyone, wish it would go out to see and not threaten land at all but I don't think that will happen. Wishing this to go east is so to speak wishing it possibly on me and I certainly don't want that to happen since I am in a flood zone and surrounded by trees in southeast georgia and a close brush would be bad enough

Nope, definitely not wishing it on anyone. Most of my family is in NC, so it would suit me just fine for it to head to sea as well. As I don't see that happening, I'd rather not have a major knocking on our doorstep monday/tues...we just had an offer accepted on a house here in Homestead and would love to not have damage to it....

I feel for ya there same thing happened to me in 2005 when at the last minute darn Wilma decided to exit over my house and we had just gotten it repaired from Frances and Jeanne damage and had a contract on it . Good luck I sure hope it doesn't hit. It is a waiting game once again for everyone. What a season, reminds me of 2004-2005

Latest HWRF takes the NHC office in MIami out of commission

have you ever seen that building, its a concrete bunker, not sure how all the communications equipment on the roof would survive but it would take a bunker buster to knock that thing down

no but I guess a CAT 6 or 7 may be required. Anyway lets see how the models go back and forth over the next few days.

The day after tomorrow should be a better day for the models as the RECON information is integrated.

That's why we always say to wait. Yesterday it was east, today is west, and tomorrow, who knows. Nonetheless, today's and yesterday's models agree that there is a cyclone (powerful) moving towards the SE US. Keep an eye on it but still, don't jump to conclusions!

no but I guess a CAT 6 or 7 may be required.

by the looks of that structure it would take an f5-f6 tornado to damage that building and that probably wouldn't even knock it down

I say that by the midday models tomorrow, we'll have a much better idea as to where Ike is headed. That would give us two more global model cycles to see if the W shift continues or if we swing back E. But just in case, I'm gassing up the car and checking the supplies today. can't hurt.

Those are solid concrete stand up walls...I'm betting the could easily stand a cat 5 winds but I'm not sure how far inland they are and storm surge in a cat 5 NOTHING is safe imho!

thanks...there are several buildings like that near the water here in biloxi/gulfport that are standing...GUTTED but standing by katrina's surge.
