"hammered" meaning ... nothing? It's calm and nothing is coming from the sky here in SSE Houston.

Well CM,I think you will have to wait a while until all that bad weather clears the city.By looking at that radar above it looks like a few hours.

Airport could be shut down for several hours if there are 40mph+ gusts in those bands. Plus with Ed moving fairly slowly - wouldn't want to need to use the airport today, unfortunately. Probably faster to fly into DFW and drive. :lol:

Well, Houston, like Dallas, is a large metropolitan area spread out. Radar does show that most of houston is getting rain at a pretty good rate right now.

Pretty much everyone on the radar is east of Houston. Houston itself is getting little to no rain so far.

I have seen nothing around my house or during my commute that suggests winds anywhere near tropical storm force, even in gusts. There is a breeze, but it isn't windy by any stretch. Maybe different toward Anahuac and Winnie.

Unfortunately that's not an option. Our car is in new orleans. We were changing planes in houston.

It's really windy, but not as windy as that station is reporting. We've had heavy rain, but not at the moment. Plenty more coming, though.

its raining pretty good here in Pasadena, but hammered is a vast overstatement. There is little wind anywhere near, harris, galveston or eastern chambers county.

We needed the rain, we got it. perfect situation of houston metroplex.

Sorry :( Found this ->

Due to WEATHER / WIND, there is a Traffic Management Program in effect for traffic arriving George Bush Intercontinental/Houston Airport, Houston, TX (IAH). This is causing some arriving flights to be delayed an average of 4 hours and 52 minutes.

Windy and wet here with rain falling every once in a while. Pretty wild gusts blowing every few minutes lasting 10 or 15 seconds but nothing's tore up thank Goodness. So far so good. Sneaky Ed... I might of slept right thru him! :P

It looks like it on radar, but I don't know for sure. Local media reported earlier that the center was in central Jefferson County, so it's quite possible. However, it's not calm... it's very windy.

Not getting any rain at all now, but the more steady sustained winds have really picked over the last 10 minutes here in North Beaumont with a few strong gust coming much more frequently.

edit. And why are we still under hurricane watch?
