Re: ATL: Tropical Storm Hanna in Western Atlantic
Based on recon. It looks like it may be just below hurricane strength.

The NHC did a good job with Gustav, but, were like everyone else when it came to the forecast and expected "warm loop" retinensification...
Ugh - this season is giving me a headache...

This is not out to sea, miles from anywhere. This is on someone's doorstep, just not yours.
Thank you. Folks don't realize what the impact Hanna will have on us. here in the T&C......A large part of Provo is below flood plain and I am quite sure parts of our Island are now flooded and folks displaced.

The NE quadrant hasn't been examined yet.

Re: ATL: Tropical Storm Hanna in Western Atlantic
this jump to the south or southwest of the center still might not mean a heck of a lot in the long range.... remember many of the models were forecasting some sort of stall out or loop in this area. suffice it to say, hanna is strengthening... it's about to spend a good day in an area with little to no steering flow... and it's taking a nice warm bath. EVERYONE from FL to NC should really watch this one...

we need to pray that the shear stay high over this thing , otherwise tons of people in the bahamas may be shocked later today/tonite (shear seems to have picked up since about 930 am over this thing-see the gustav outlfow streak going thru hanna's cdo of late)

With that said a hurricane warning needs to be issued by the NHC, IMHO.

I thought so too, just west of North Caicos.

without question any eye is becoming visible on the latest Vis imagery. This is also supportive of the latest recon data and a pressure of 986 is representative of a minimal hurricane. I wonder if the outlier Ukmet is on to something here..

I'm sure one will be issued...not by the NHC, but by the government of the Bahamas (and Turks and Caicos if they are a separate entity) with the 2PM package.

With Gustav, remember once that LLC reformed SW of the Haiti peninsula the models had a no doubt exact point and that's when the NHC track became dead on. Now that Hanna is getting her act together the NHC should have a clear point to forecast, which they really have not had for a day or so. I would expect the 5pm and on track to be very accurate.

Turks and Caicos are a British territory, but the Bahamas issues warnings for them.
