Re: ATL: Tropical Storm Hanna in Western Atlantic
Regit is refering to the 5 day map. I was refering to the 3 day map. Look at the 3 day map and you will see it is further West which could put Florida more at risk.

Yeah short term track did have to shift because of the southerly readjustment in the last 12hrs or so, but the longer term track is about the same as the models are still coming out with a similar track of to the NW after about 36-48hrs, which is about when the shear for Gustav's outflow should start to ease slowly.

I've got the feeling the NHC are still WELL conservative with the 70 knots peak. That said the intensity forecast for Hanna so far has been problematic and I presume it'll remain that way until it rides up towards Georgia/Carolinas.

I wouldn't be so sure at this point that it will ride up towards georgia/carolinas.

Oh, absolutely, if this nudges further southwest the whole scenario might pan out differently. And of course the Floridians should be watching this very closely as well.

The problem is many are concentrating on the line and thinking its going to be east of here when it passes and affect Georgia or SC. It may do this there is no doubt, but it may also nudge slightly west. In fact I diffed the 5AM and 11AM advisories and the closest points to the East Coast of FL have shifted slightly west and now the system is a hurricane when passing the Palm Beaches (East most point of Florida) by only around 60 miles or so...+ or - 10 miles.
