Could anyone confirm that SW movement? if so would this be of concern to us here in the northen islands? Thanks.

First welcome to storm2k.I am also in PR.About the movement,it appears that it has stopped a brief SW track that had earlier today and now is going west to westnorthwest.

Thanks alot. So if anything forms it should move well north of us. Right?

Luis, some of that convection looks like it stretches a good but south of us though. Do you think the NE Caribbean will get some storms as it passes WNW?

Barbara, yes, some of that will come to the Northern Caribbean islands, but the main area that may develop will not reach us and stay NE of the islands.

This system looks very good today, almost as good as Gus currently is. It appears a LLC is developing, I expect this to become a depression by 5pm tomarrow.

Wouldn't the ridge turn this northward before it even gets a chance at hitting Florida?

This thing continues to impress me today, while Gustav impresses me less:

I don't think so, looks at the Euro and the Bamms, they have the right idea IMO. The ridge steering Gustav W-WNW will also be steering this one W-WNW if/when it develops. I think this is a definite EC threat.

I think I have to agree with you Gatorcane...Looks pretty good right now. I think the ULL to it's west is still having quite a bit of an influence on it. If it clears out of the way though I think we will see things ramp up with 95L pretty quickly. The Euro runs on this are somewhat scary but I will withhold the Doomcasting until I see more models come into agreement. The fact that the GFDL takes it to the TC graveyard is somewhat comforting. Like I said earlier, 95L was not getting any love...He was the Rodney Dangerfield of the Atlantic at the moment...

"I get no respect"

Maybe it will start to get some more respect in the coming days...
Of course Gustav is still the big boy on the block for the time being, despite his health issues with Hispanola. But all that could change in the days ahead...Only time will tell!

Also the same high which has Gustav moving slowly WNW should do the same for 95L.

and then into EFL.

Probably a dumb question but:

Why is it that their "cone" for Gustav is so much larger than the official NHC cone?

I'm guessing that this isn't the cone, it's the areas which could be affected by Gustav.

Isn't that essentially what the cone is though? I'm probably overanalyzing the whole deal.

The ULL to its west and to Gustav's East is really the fly in the ointment when it comes to forecasting both of these systems IMO. I think that ULL is going to make the forecasts for Gustav and 95L very problematic over the long term, track and intensity wise.

I'll go out on a limb here and say that if the convection continues we will see the "Code Red" by either 8:00PM or 2:00AM. Anybody with me on that one or am I missing something...
