Just heard on TWC that Ike may well got back to sea and not affect the US. Thank goodness...

Interestingly, Local 10 TV in Miami has been coming on live with updates on Ike, twice in the last hour. Also, they are starting the evening news at 4:30 pm instead of 6:00 pm. This station has Max Mayfield and is not given to hype.

yep and they are running a crawl at the bottom of the screen, that track at 5 will be very close if not on top of us, they arent starting the news 90 mins early because there was so much happening in south florida today

The T numbers continue to suggest 125kts is reasonable though whether or not the NHC bite the bullet and up the winds I'm not sure yet.

There is shear but its not a wall, more like a gentle trickle!

Thought that maybe my question got lost at the bottom of the page or among the TV chat so I'll ask again

Is the recurve only possible before it hits FL due to the lifting ULL and High pressure building in, or will that high pressure be "large and in chage" as I once heard it and allow it to continue W along the GOM to Texas/Mexico?

I guess I cold put it this way, is recurving only a possibility before it gets to Florida?
