As bad as it was/is, it could have been MUCH stronger, had it spent only a little less time over land.

I guess I don't consider a storm that survived crossing Hispaniola, Cuba, and the Florida peninsula (twice) making landfall a total of 7 times and dumping over 18 inches of rain over Central Florida killing at least six there and who knows how many in Hispaniola a bust. But thats just me.

As a tropical storm yes, but I think It will be a didn't story tommorow as that rouge ULL gets farther away. We'll probably see a couple of strong bands develop again and dump lots of rain on someone.

Bones says he doesn't see how Fay will pose a heavy rain threat to the Gulf cost if all its rain is in central Alabama and drifting slowly west. The core of rain will likely drift westward into south-central MS over the next 24 hours, but probably not impact the coast or New Orleans. And he doesn't think that Fay's remnant LLC will survive for 5 days. In any case, the final advisory has been issued. Hopefully, Fay will spread a little (not 20 inches) of it's remaining rain over Alabama and Georgia where they need it.

But as for Fay as a tropical cyclone...

TD or otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised to see instability left over from Fay's remnants to cause plenty more rainfall in the Southeast. That's JMO of course.

Steve, I was wondering the same thing and am glad that I am not the only one thinking that. Have been watching the progression of that for a while on WV. Very interesting indeed.

I've been noticing that, as well, with the water vapor loop. It is the chance for SE Louisiana to have significant rain in the next 48 hours. Wouldn't surprise me if it happened, but, I think that most of this system is history. Turns out that what I was seeing on satellite a couple of days ago actually verified, somewhat. With that said, it's more like luck, IMO, as this has been the most unpredictable storm I can recall since Hurricane Juan, back in 1985. Really interesting system to analyze, IMO.

Remember, Bones said it's dead as a TC, it'll still produce some heavy rain near its core. Allison was dead as a TC in 2001 and it still dropped 35" of rain on Houston that Friday night in June.

Something tells me Fay may have not had her last hurrah
just yet. She's still has a lot of rain left in her.

This was a fun storm to track, though it wasn't fun for those that had to deal with all the flooding and I hope they make it out ok. We lucked out here in the western panhandle, nothing but cool temps and a misty fog all day...it was actually quite nice.

Woah, no, I mean she fell apart. Poor choice of wording.

With Fay moving away, I've removed the North Florida suite of charts.

Well, I'm up watching the Olympics (I'm a diehard basketball fan), but, I definitely have winds outside of my house gusting to over 30 to 35mph. Not a big deal, but, it really does feel good and I have a few limbs to pick up tomorrow in my front lawn. Looks like we'll have some light rain in the next few hours, so, I can clearly state that New Orleans isn't "effect free." But, I've been through many of these things and it is really nice outside with the brisk wind. No biggie, but, the clouds are moving fast this early AM and the winds are nice. It's not a big deal, though.

What direction is what is left of Faye moving, I just looked at Weather Underground radar and I am sure I am misinterputing the movement, it looks like it is dipping south around Lousiana, this may be stupid question but I am just curious so I had to ask.

Well from the looks of the radar and outside my house we've been having drizzle for about 3 hours now. A slight breeze runs through every now and again. NOTHING to shake a stick at.

We are expecting 3"+ rainfall totals from Fay once she arrives. With the drought we have, those 3" will be very beneificial.

Look at the tropical forcast points. Looks like she is trying to sneek into the gulf again and come up through MS. We have very light rain and the wind is picking up now. Sneaky girl.

Sneak into the gulf? She's moving NW and expected to turn west. Where do you see any indication that she is trying to get back into the gulf?
