Autumn is usually a depressing season. Short days, getting even shorter.

But this year, I can look forward to hurricane season finally, for real, ending in the NW Gulf, and in two months I can look forward to the 6Z GFS at 276 hours showing the magic combination of sub 540 dm thicknesses and sub-freezing 850 mb temps, Northeast winds and precip over SE Texas.

I remember the Southeast Texas Christmas Miracle of 2004.

I always forget about this until it's too late......

Is that egg balancing trick actually possible?

No idea, but the nights are getting longer quickly, and as Texas TC season ends, we approach the joyous nexus of the heart of football season, Holiday Season (really, beginning with Rosh Hashanah and extending to the Chinese Lunar New Year, and including Thanksgiving, Chanukkah, Kwaanza, Christmas, Boxing Day, New Years, NCAA BCS Championship Game, Super Bowl Sunday, Carnival/Mardi Gras), and we're soon to get an extra hour of sleep on a weekend. So, while I sometimes find the short days and long nights depressing, the thought of all the fun things coming up, plus the possibility of another Houston area snow miracle, goes a long way of tiding me over to tornado season, which winds down just as hurricane season begins.
