Yup it is summer-like or fall-like in FL with Mid 80s for highs and 70s
lows in South FL...and the tropics are like september

The midwest is getting winter weather but the SE is still in Fall
or perhaps even summer over south FL.

BTW, Olga looks like a giant Mollusck in the sat pic I posted

18.8N/69.5W is around 15 miles from the N coast. If it moves WNW Olga may pull off the N coast briefly.

This is the fourth latest tropical storm, correct? (after Lili, Zeta and Alice)

It has a ways to go to reach Lili though...

WHAT are the chances of Olga turning more WNW and sliding into
Southeast Florida? Whether as an open wave or a system?

This is why I should always read the full report.

NHC 4pm position: 18.5N/68.8W
NHC 8pm position: 18.8N/69.5W
Pretty solid WNW movement. Interesting at the 4pm update Olga wasn't expected to make it to 18.9N for 36 hours. Still looks WNW on the satellite.

:uarrow: Looks very WNW on the satellite. At this point, who knows what will happen.

To think that a storm should form in December when only the CMC supported it, start to travel in a different direction than the forecast, and turn out to be tropical with 60 MPH winds. I mean, Jesus Christ. This has been a WEIRD year.

It doesn't look to me like the old LLC has moved that far north. I think it's more likely that the center relocated because there was very little deep convection near the old LLC and a lot in the bands to the north. 60 mph is particularly peculiar since the banding has deteriorated drastically during the day. Olga certainly doesn't look like a storm that could be strengthening to 60 mph while next to or partly on Hispaniola.

That is a solid 290-295 degree movement.

If the center is still under the same ball of convection that it was earlier, Olga is back into open waters.

North of it, in the huge ball of convection.

That's a big relocation then...I see it now, maybe it will head for the Windward Passage and not make much in the way of land interaction...

I don't see it north of the coast on that loop. Looks right over the eastern DR about 20-30 miles inland and moving westward. Don't focus on the higher clouds, look for the very low clouds to try to pinpoint the center. It also helps to have some surface obs:

Here we go. If the ridge is going to do its job, its now or never.

Also, about the shear that is forecast for tomorrow, I will believe it when I see it.

It's so interesting to read these last dozen pages or so from the point of exactly what is Olga from guesstimation based on the known and unknown scientific (or very unscientific) points of view when I and my neighboring island posters and friends are experiencing it. Weird, frankly...except for the few Florida folk who wonder if it's coming there, which is par for the course.
I'll watch it all shake down here into numbers and names as I listen and learn about the reality from other sources closer to the ground. A bit schizto...statesiders reality versus ours, but interesting anyway. There are a couple of posters I wish dearly I was wealthy enough to fly here for the real deal...but that is as realistic as some other wishes 8-)
