Still looks quite subtropical with the convection displaced from the center of circulation.

I was just about to say it looks subtropical again for that reason as well. However, the center is better defined then 12 hours.

Looks like the shear came back in knocked the convection north and west of the center.

Sheared and exposed. Probably won't change much before the first squalls reach the Outer Banks late this afternoon. I doubt there will be many reports of sustained TS force winds with this storm. Strongest winds of 40-50 mph are in those squalls 150 miles northeast of the center.. They'll remain offshore. Just a little wind and rain.

Right now I still think a little more south. It has gone a little more to the W over night. But it is a wait and see really. cause the more west it goes the lower it comes in. JIMO

Perhaps, I'm jumping the gun a little bit as it will be heading over the gulf stream soon. But it seems to me that this storm just can't remain under favorable conditions long enough for significant development. It's no wonder why the global models have backed off intensfing this storm into hurricane. They underestimated the influence up the upper-level trough and low digging into the Eastern US.

Very nice graphics. Looks kind of like the circulation may be trying to build storms around it and definetely looks more tropical this morning. It has what, a good day and a half left over warm water? Also, what is the sheer supposed to do today?

Shear map shows very little shear over the system right now, it's just not very organized.

"By the way, Gabby looks like a mosquito!!!"

I must be hungry...I was thinking more like a shrimp.. :D Gabby does get an E for effort...

Nice summary....watched water vapor on east of the leewards....it be rolling. The stuff around the keys has been there for almost a week...especially down in the straits....just firing and refiring over the same area and now forecasted to drift west tonight and Sunday into that hot tub known as the Gulf.

Will this pull an Alex? Winds at Ocracoke gusted to 122 and it reached Cat 3 at the highest lat on record. Of course Gabby will probably take a more direct path over the OBX. Probably just a strong TS here, but a little nervous because I know what can happen. Lots of building convection over the past few, but it hasn't wrapped which is good. Until she's gone I'll watch closely. I just hope we get rain.
