It did and it was still called a Super Typhoon!

What a monster. I love that huge eye. It is 1035 km in diameter or 560 nm!!!! (not the eye, the storm).

Quite impressive storm. I would not be surprised if Man-yi becomes a Category 5 typhoon. Looks like Okinawa and Japan is in for it.

Man-yi appears it's going through an ERC, hence the expanding of the cold top clouds from the center (the dark red you see in the images) especially to the northwest. Another sign of an ERC occuring is the size of the eye decreasing, which is evident from the two images above. The outflow is incredible.

Any additional information you have on Typhoon Man-yi will be greatly appreciated. My son and daughter-in-law live in Okinawa on Kadena Air Force Base. I've been trying to get information online but haven't had much luck. Thank you.

The latest TRMM pass showed absolutely no indication of an EWRC

There was not even a closed eyewall (open NW)

The latest pass suggests that the inner core may finally be stabilizing.

It's a strong Category 4 now, and now the forecast calls for a super typhoon with 135 kt winds...

That does seem a bit high, I don't think it is that strong yet...I'd say in reality (if there were recon aircraft to check out there) it would be about 130 kt and 926 mb.
