Tropical Depression GABRIELLE:Discussions and Images
Moderator: S2k Moderators
It is still subtropical but the new convective burst does look very close to the center, how close is hard to say without Vis.imagery however.Yesterday night al lthe convection blew up around the LLC but not over it, at first sight that may not be the case today. However note there is still no noteable convection on the western and southern side.

I don't quite understand your point. It's already been named. You don't think it's subtropical anymore?

Because of the tight LLC and the convection forming near it, I really don't think its subtropical any more.

I agree with you there, but TPC likes to wait. They even admitted in their discussion that it was "aquiring tropical characteristics". Another problem though is that we don't have plane in there this morning to determine that.

Looks more tropical to me now. Recon will confirm later. The only difference is that a subtropical storm doesn't have to capacity to deepen as rapidly. Shouldn't be too bad for eastern NC. Even on the current forecast track, the strongest winds may pass just east of the Outer Banks. Time to head to work for my 13th straight shift....

So where is the center this morning in relation to the rest of the storm?
