It is odd looking I must say. It doesn't look like a "feeder" band.

the center is relocating further south......

I don't have clue other than a feeder band...

How do you figure the center is relocating South?

I think we have a "new" center possibly forming a little further north.
Just my opinion.

Nothing more annoying than a sat eclipse with a storm in the Gulf. At least it is a quick one.

Just for fun, don't even look at the latest GFS run...

do you see a center exposed to the NNW some on the end of that run? It looks like it...

I think he was responding to my comment about not looking at the latest GFS and bringing Dean towards the upper Texas coast and SW Louisiana. My fault, I should stay on topic.

I don't understand why it's having such a hard time getting it's act together under these optimal conditions.

Because it's still being sheared--the center is actually to the southwest of the upper level high.

Looks at those wispy clouds coming out of all sides of the main convective blob right now..

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/flt/t2/loop-ir2.html

..If I remember correctly, don't those clouds usually mean that a storm is prime for rapid development? I seem to remember a met saying that during a past event. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
