A drive up ATM machine with instructions in Braille next to the normal written instructions. Does that make sense?

I think that's a standard requirement, but it's pretty weird when you think about it.

At some banks, the drive-thru ATM is only ATM machine available. So obviously, they can't drive. So whomever is driving them round goes through the drive-through and let the blind person get out and use the ATM machine. I don't know, but it is a possibility.

There are also cases of people simply walking up to the drive-thru ATMs, which is pretty much the only option available if the bank has no regular ATM. Most banks do allow you to walk up to the drive-thru ATM - just not to the drive-thru tellers.

Im color blind. That tool helps. About 10 percent of males are color blind to some degree.

Ya know Ed, now that I think about it, I've seen it our Wells Fargo drive up ATMS!

Get this one! I was doing follow up at our local hospital emergency room a few months back and ABOVE each bed area in the ER, approx. 10' HIGH...there's a sign with a bed number and below the number is a BRAIL number, same height, 10' above ground...go figure!

I know people think it's funny, but there's a simple explanation for it. The machine is the same as all the other ATM's that are not in the drive-through lanes. Why make a nonstandard (ie, more expensive) machine just for the drive-through lanes? That's why they just put braille buttons on all of them.

I think that the braile is required due to the Americans with Disabilities Act. (ADA)

That makes sense. Its on there already and a nonstandard machine would be extra.

For me, the ADA has been terrific. I don't have a disability, but, I have been pushing strollers for years now. Having aisles that are wide enough if very conveniet. My first child was born just before the ADA took effect. And it was such a pain.

Welcome to my world...As you know, I myself do have a disability. It is, at times, hard to deal with but I do...every day of the week, 52 weeks a year. And the person who said that ATM's are required by ADA to have the braille instructions, etc. is correct. Same with elevators, room placards, etc.
