Still down and out!

#1 Postby azsnowman » Sun Sep 16, 2007 10:45 am

As most of you know, I had surgery on my right foot 25 days ago and it's STILL not healed :x

I've got/still have a BAD, BADDDDD staph infection, went into the ankle bone this time. I've been on 3 different antibiotics, started 2 new ones yesterday, 2 scripts for $157 but hey, if the they work, $157 is better than loosing my FOOT!

I read somewhere about 5 weeks ago that staph infections from operating rooms are up some 80% over 2 years ago.....I'm living proof that those stats are correct! A prayer or two would be appreciated!

Of course I'll pray you recover from this ASAP Dennis. I was so hoping this surgery would be a quick recovery too.....as I'm sure you were as well. I remember my BIL having a staph infection after his stroke. He was on extremely powerful antiobiotics and they had to be administered by a main central line (in his neck). Very painful and it took him forever to get over the infection.

Wishing you better days soon....

I hope you get better soon? When the infection got to the bone was it painful? Bleech...and you can't even have a drink with all the antibiotics you are taking. Nuts...

My Mom got a staph infection with her last surgery. Nasty stuff.

Take care my friend and you definitely are on my prayer list.

I can't begin to describe HOW painful it is....it's worse than slamming my finger in the car door and breaking it 6 weeks ago  I'm on my way to Flagstaff as soon as I post this to see the doctor...it's a *little* better today, not as swollen but still VERY painful. Let's hope he can figure SOMETHING out, 4 weeks of pain, not being able to work full time is KILLING ME!

Prayers from Jersey!

Have you discussed treatment in a hyperbaric chamber with your doctor?
(OOPS! I didn't mean you had to discuss the treatment while in the chamber with the doctor, which is unfortunately what I just typed!!!!! But I think you know what I meant!) When my brother had bone infections in his toes that is what they suggested for him. He unfortunately was not able to tolerate the treatment, as he became claustrophobic in the chamber. But I have heard that it works well for infections.
