So I'm fooling around a bit on the internet this evening, and decide to surf for the nostalgia factor...the AT40 of the 70s and 80s, the years when Casey Kasem ruled the DJ airwaves. I wasn't aware that someone had syndicated the old AT40 radio shows until I found a link. I've been listening to these old countdown shows and have been struck by how many years have gone by. For example, right now the current AT40 show is from August of 1987. There are some really dated songs and some that have held up over time. It doesn't seem possible that 20 years have passed since that program.
Evidently the syndicators got Kasem to voice the intros to the classic AT40 shows, and his voice is nowhere near as strong as it was back then. I supposee it's to be expected. After all, I think Casey must be close to 70 by now. I'm glad they brought the old shows back. It's like a piece of my childhood. If you grew up in those years, you grew up with Casey Kasem on your radio during the weekends.
