Walmart must be hurting them but I think this is wonderful. This will be such a nice thing for parents.

Brilliant marketing scheme. When was the last time you got an antibiotic and nothing else at a pharmacy?

Publix knows if I go get the free antibiotics there is no way I wouldn't go to the bakery and buy something!

Awesome. I think this is a great thing for the people that need them. I wish Publix was a little closer. In a few months there will be a much closer publix.

No Publix here either, but what they're doing is great.

That's nice of them, but I think we are overusing antibiotics though.

Very true. But that's a doctor's responsibility, not a pharmacy's.

All the ones named are available available as generic and are probably dirt cheap to produce. Probably the biggest cost for them is the "cut" that the pharmacy takes. So they offer these as "loss leaders" to generate traffic in the store. In the end it probably costs the retailer less than many other promotions.

Still a good deal for many people who need help.

Seems like every other week for me for one kid or another. I only pay $7 for those drugs anyways, but this is a very interesting idea. Sure, it is a loss leader. But it is a very novel approach. And over the counter cold products are EXPENSIVE!!!! Claritin is a dollar a day!!!!

I love Publix. We don't have them in New Orleans, but it's one of my favorite things about going to my sister's house in Florida. and that is a win-win situation for everyone, although I wholeheartedly agree that we're overusing antibiotics.
