I read this out of a book I bought.
The grand jury didn't believe the sequence of events that led to the death of a Soldona, Alaska man. The accused murder said he awoke to find his cousin flailing on the floor in mortal agony from a self inflicted gunshot. And instead of calling 911, he decided the humane thing to do was to finish him off. He was indicted on charges of first degree murder.

that sounds like a story i heard when i lived in southern mississippi. a man was found shot to death, a suspected mob hit. the coroner said it was suicide. he'd been shot 20-something times. no charges were ever filed.... go figure
