Holy Cow!!!!! I have been hearing helicopters all morning. I mean they are just about on top of me.
I heard about this on Channel 8 news a few minutes ago. I took a walk to see about where this might be. It is only 4 houses away from me!!! (about 4-1/2 acres on the other side of the hill) And every news station from Tampa is there. Looks like they were growing in pretty much the entire house from what I could see. The property is cross fenced and they used to have some geese and a couple of goats. I haven't seen the geese or goats lately. In fact now that I think about it I don't think I have seen anyone there lately. Amazing what can go on right near you and you never have a clue. Just heard another blurb about it on tv and they said that there is another bust a couple of miles away. Dang this is just disturbing! We moved up here to country to get away from all that crap. They are now saying that there are 2 houses on the same street. (Osceola Drive)
Don't know where the other one is - I think maybe north of the one by me - closer to SR 52.

Looks like they probably were looking at that area for a while and most busts may be to come.

This is just nutz!!! I have never seen so much traffic on my street. Must be a lot of people wanting to get a look at that house - and they are all turning around in my driveway to go back for a second look. It's driving poor Winnie nutso too!

We rented a sailboat and took off from Port Richey (back in June)! Small world.....it is a nice area! A little too close to home, huh Dizzy?

Miss Mary - the next time you are in my neck of the woods give me a hollar and we can go have lunch. Got some neat places with some awesome food around here. Did you rent the boat from Hudson Marina or off of US 19 by the closed down Leverocks?

Yeah, all this is a little too close to home for me.

There are a lot of these busts down south of here in North Port, FL. The real estate there is dirt cheap and many homes are quite secluded, so the dealers from Miami are coming over, buying homes, and using them as grow houses. Yet another unintended side effect of the stupid War on (Some) Drugs.

Know how you feel, we moved from a bad part of Philly to a so-called better part, now watching drug deals in the parking lot, kids smoking pot on the steps, they found a dead body 2 apartments from me...can't wait to get out of this ****hole finally in 4 weeks

We've got a drug dealer living in the same building as us and there are now tons of "SKEEVEE" people coming and going at all hours of the day and night! I won't walk downstairs to my car alone at night anymore because of it! We live in such a beautiful place and everything used to feel safe and quiet until this guy started bringing the bad elements around here.

I wanted to report his activities to the police but, I don't want to deal with any retaliations since I live in the same building as him. I don't want to move either because I love my home. I just keep hoping that his luck will eventually run out and he'll get busted on his own. I did try to inform the building management of his goings-on and they said that they were aware of lots of shady characters coming and going but, that there was nothing they could do about it 'cause his parents own the condo unit and management had not seen an actual drug deal. I have witnessed deals but am not willing to put my head on the chopping block 'cause even if he got busted, he'd probably get a slap on the wrists and then come "gunning" for me! NO THANK YOU!!!

I guess that I'll just have to keep trying to avoid the weirdos and hope that he gets what's coming to him.

Get a sidearm and learn how to use it and then if he goes gunning for you, you can legally blow him away. BTW have to watch out for meth labs because they can be set up in an apartment and the chemicals used are so dangerous as to require a Hazmat team to clean up when one is busted.

Thanks but, that just somehow doesn't seem too reassuring!!

I don't think he's doing the meth lab thing yet, key word is YET. Mostly hallucinogenics, marijuana, prescription meds, cocaine and whatever else he can get his hands on. I haven't smelled that chemical smell they say you can when it's a meth lab.

Also, I'd rather just play the avoidance game and not have to go all Charles Bronson on his A$$!!!

We had drug dealers living next door to us in Tampa. (one reason we moved up here to the "country") lol and look what is down the street.....

Anyway, you can call and report the activities and remain anonymous. I did that in Tampa.
Explain to them when you call your reasons for not wanting to be known to him - they shouldn't have a problem with that. If you are worried about them (police) getting your phone number from your call - call them from a place of business. (BTW call their regular phone number NOT 911)

You really should have a sidearm you are comfortable with - you just never know these days....

Little morning update.......

2 arrests one for trafficking (sp?) and one for cultivation. I think they are still looking for a 3rd person.
The other house is on my street (oh, joy) about a 1/2 mile away. One other house was mentioned but all they found was stalks - not sure where that one is.


Not to mean any offense here but you kinda expect this stuff in somewhat run down areas. These houses are on at least an acre and I know the one at the corner yesterday sold 2 years ago for around $280,000. We aren't talking a cheap neighborhood.....lots of nice suvs, cars, trucks.. etc

Thank you for the advice but, I have no access to a business phone as, I am homebound at this time. Perhaps I can get someone else to make the call for me. Until then, I will just continue to keep my guard up and try to find out what the concealed weapons laws are here in Florida. I don't want to break any laws while trying to protect myself from outlaws!!

Also, yes, I know 9-1-1 is not the number to call!!

I did see a funny bumper sticker one time that said;
"Dial 9-1-1, Make A Cop Come"!!!!

I thought that was a great one!! I was almost tempted to follow that order, just because I have a bit of a cop fetish!! Something about someone risking their lives for people like me everyday is kind of a turn on!!!

Dizzyfish....that's the trend, labs, greenhouses in gated communities, nice areas! That's why they do it, it's the LAST place you would least expect it! Believe me, we've made NUMEROUS busts in all 4 of the "Country Club" areas!!
