What are the US states that you want to visit someday?

#1 Postby wxmann_91 » Sun Jul 29, 2007 5:46 pm

This thread was inspired by:
How many US states have you visited?
What is the Highest Elevation you have been?
What is the Lowest Elevation you have been?

For me, I'd want to visit OK, since the SPC/NSSL etc. are there. Heck let's include all Great Plains states, just for being able to see a supercell.

I have no desire for seeing the east. Way too urban, people don't see very nice there. Maybe though I'd want to go on the Blue Ridge Parkway one day (in VA, IIRC).

I'd love to go thru all the Western states and enjoy the scenery we have here. This includes CO, WY, MT, ID, WA, OR, among others. And not just pass through the state.

Though I don't care much for HI and AK.

Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Oregon, Washington, Vermont, and New Hampshire. You don't know what you are missing with Alaska. Been there 3 times. Would move there if I could get a good job.

Alaska, revisit North Carolina beaches (my one visit was a layover in Charlotte), South Carolina, Louisiana (New Orleans), Maine and perhaps California.

I want to visit at least one west coast state, Oregon and California especially. Never seen the Pacific.

Illinois
California
Alaska
Hawaii
Texas

I guess those would be my top 5 but I'd be happy to go to any state(and almost every state west of the Mississippi I have not been to, except for AR and MO).

and it's been 18 years, but I'm DEFINTELY going back to the Northeast within a few years, especially Washington D.C. and New York.

Hawaii tops the list of states I haven't yet visited but would like to. I would also like to go to Wyoming and Montana to visit some of the great national parks out there.

Most definitely Alaska! Chrissy's parents want us to take the Alaskan cruise with them and do the over land train tour as well as the Denali park tour. I'm pretty sure that we will be doing that fairly soon, possibly next summer. 8-)

Hawaii and Alaska would have to be my choices. I've been to California and most of the east coast states already except Florida. I would like to go to Florida as well, especially the gulf side.

I'd love to go out to the great plains, if only for the same reason as wxmann_91 said, to see supercells!

Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont. I've seen all of the other states I care to. Will make repeat visits to Alaska, Arizona, California, and Colorado soon.

Yeah, you better want to visit Virginia! It's a perfect blend of the conveniences of the north with the kindness of the south! The small towns can be quite old-fashioned at times, tucked back in the hills. And we also have a wonderful lee trough that will taunt you with almost-severe storms all summer . . . it's a beautiful place, I tell ya . . .

I've been to pretty much all of the Western states and all along the Eastern Seaboard. I would like to see more of the Midwest mainly for the storms and the BBQ as well as the NE states like Maine, NH and Vermont. I'd also love to make it to Alaska one day. Eventually I'm planning to move to Colorado but for now I'm still stuck in FL. Highest elevation (in the US) is probably skiing somewhere in CO, lowest was Death Valley, CA.

If you don't see anything else on the East Coast you will want to see the Blue Ridge Mountains, that is some of the most serenely beautiful scenery in the country. Not as dramatic as the Rockies but very peaceful. You get the impression that there is a lot that has gone on in those mountains before any of us came along; hard to describe the feeling except saying it just feels very old.

I've never been out west, so I'd love to see either California or Washington. And, of course, I'd really like to go to Hawaii also.
