what's your take on Fast-Food these days?

I am boycotting fast food, I have had some bad experiences lately. Fast food service is HORRIBLE these days. McDonalds is the worst IMO. I cannot understand how mcdonalds is anywhere near as popular as it is. Has anybody noticed that their bathrooms are cleaner than the restaurant itself??? I know you can go through the drive-thru, but there you are 100% more likely to get a messed up order. At least if you go inside you can yell at them when they mess it up.

If there is a manager monitoring the employees then usually you get good service, otherwise it's going to be the most stressful 15 minutes of your day. Then once you get your burger, you have to actually dig to find the meat. Once you find it, you wished you hadn't looked at it since it resembles nothing close to what is suitable for your digestive system.

The best and most enjoyable part of McDonalds is getting out of there alive. /end rant :ggreen:

I rarely eat fast-food. The times I have, yeah... they usually mess up something on the order. And the food never looks like the picture they have displayed. I remember being with someone at a fast-food restaurant a long time ago. She looked at her food, took it to the counter, pointed to the picture that advertised what she ordered, and said, "Make it look like that."

True story: I was going to get some dinner with a couple friends of mine in my original home town up north. I suggested we go to the local pizza place. Very cheap, and by far the best pizza in town to boot! (A small costs 5 dollars, a small anywhere else is at least 7). But then they changed their mind and their bright idea was.....McDONALD'S! The rationale: it's cheaper and it doesn't taste any worse. YES IT DOES!!!!! The last time I did eat there (reluctantly, because there was no other choice), the food tasted like absolute rubber, at best. My friends think rubber tasted good? Weird.

My take on fast food can be related to what I did when we got to McDonald's. I ordered absolutely nothing, then went home (with them picking on me for not eating Crapdonalds), made my own dinner and had a beer. I proceeded to tell my parents and some other friends the situation. Well my mom sided with McDonald's, but then my mom will praise pretty much anything; we can't go by her alone. My dad was a little more anti-McDonalds, fortunately. But nothing like the friends I told about. They told me that they would have done the exact same thing, maybe even had another beer or two.

So in short, my take on fast foods. One word: SUCKS!!!!!

Drive-thru places ALWAYS mess up orders now days. That said though, I do enjoy a nice cheeseburger or a grilled chicken sandwhich from time to time, but I do not eat fast food regularly. The only thing I would be willing to eat multiple times in a week would be subs. A sandwhich from subway, quiznos, or if i'm lucky a better place like firehouse or jersey mikes (which I have not seen in Houston) can be quite satisfying.

In my opinion fast food is not worth what is paid for it. I can make a better burger cheaper at home and feed more people than I can when I buy fast food. I can spend about 15.00 to buy the buns, ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes and, pickles and 15.00 will not buy 6 hamburgers at MacDonalds or Burger King. The last Burge King here in lakeland has such lousy inside service that I will not even go through the drive thru.

$15.00 would be more than enough for 6 cheeseburgers at either of those restaurants (The double cheeseburger is even on the "dollar menu" at mcdonalds right now). However, I still like the idea of a homemade one much better. I would rather pay a little bit more for better quality ingredients.

How much is ground beef per pound where you live!?!?!?!?!?!?It cost around $3.69 per pound here!!!!!!!!!!!!!But I have to agree on Burger King. The manger told me it has to do with the min wage going up soon to $6.?? per hour.

My biggest problem with fast food is the the health factor. And believe it or not, it's not really the burgers that are the biggest problem, it's those french fries. I have 2 kids and sometimes we have to stop and grab a quick dinner for whatever reason and do McDonalds maybe once every 2 months. The one near me doesn't have bad service and is rarely crowded. I think it's convienent for those in a hurry who don't have time to cook, but fast food should only be eaten very occasionally.

As a general rule, my family eats at home so we rarely carry out or eat out. But on occasion we break this rule. I banned McDonald's years ago, since my kids when little would have eaten there every week! Do you know how old that menu gets? Their fish sandwich hasn't changed - in decades! Now their coffee isn't bad, we buy it when traveling (if driving). It keeps you awake and is better than stardard fast food rest. coffee.

If I had to choose any fast food I prefer right now it would be a sub place. Either Subway or Jersey Mike's.

But lately I've ordered a shake at Chic Fil A a few times and my daughter, if along, will get an order of their waffle fries (yeah I know, that's breaking my family's rule). What I have noticed about Chick Fil A is they always get our order correct, they are very attentive, look you right in the eye, thank you for your business, thanks for choosing Chick Fil A or something similar. They ask if you want catsup! McDonald's never asks - you have to ask! They often skip items in your order and skip the straw too. Not Chick Fil A. Maybe you should try this fast food rest. I get the impression their employees are trained with the customer as the most important aspect of their job. Sure wish other restaurants would do this!

I rarely eat fast food, although I do like it. I never have any problem with the McDonald's near my home or with the one near my work, and I have very specific cravings for their Double Cheeseburger with pickles and onions only, and their fries! I think of it as a treat, but I know it's just horrible for you. I also really like Taco Bell, especially that Cheesy Gordita Crunch, or whatever it's called. They don't have it all the time. The Taco Bell near my house has never reopened after Katrina and there's not one near my work, so I can't remember the last time I ate there.

I like Chik-Fil-A, (sp?) and if they would offer a whole wheat bun, I'd eat there more often. Those whole-wheat buns aren't really much healthier, because they're still processed with a lot of sugar, but I prefer the taste.

I usually try to stay away from any kind of fast food. The problem today in America is that people are always in a rush, and don't have time to cook a healthy and tasty dinner.

Fast food are bad for your body but most of them taste good and that's what attrack people, mostly young people. Most of us don't have to worry about cholesterol, or heart conditions, or any other problem except for a cold once in a while. That's why young people are hook on fast food, you don't feel the consequences except that you body expands when you eat too much. But when you get middle age, then your eating habits you had when you were young start hunting you. High Cholesterol, diabetes, heart condition, obesity, body aches, and more. Then when you notice these problem you start eating more vegetables than a rabbit and you exercise.

Bottomline, when you are young eat healthy, stay away from fast food, smoking, alcohol, drugs, excersice as much as possible, and you could have a healthy middle life and late years.

They do offer a wheat bun. The chargrilled sandwiches are served on them and you can request them on any sandwich.

I try to avoid fast food here, McDonalds had made me sick years ago and the rest of them don't really appeal to me. I tried Quiznos once but they went out of buisness by me (they can't compete with Philly hoagies :D )so never had a chance to go back, they were pretty good. If I have to have something fast (usually at lunchtime at work)then I'll just drive to one of the pizza places to get a slice of pizza.

Ground beef here in Lakeland has gone up to 3.89 a lb or more depending on how much fat is left in the ground beef. The more fat is left the cheaper per pound it is. I don't like to buy that kind. I will buy the 85% lean to use for hamburgers. I can't serve home made burgers without some french fries so those are always served with the burgers. If I don't have any packages of them in the freezer, then I buy a bag or two when I buy all the burger fixings.

I don't eat at fast food often. If I do, I eat at Jack In The Box, Taco Bell, Wendy's, and Chick-Fil-A.

The only drive-thru burger joint I go to is Wendy's to get the spicy chicken sandwich.

The Whopper is good at Burger King, but half of the time you get white tomatoes, brown lettuce, and cold meat.

I do eat grilled chicken sandwiches at Chick-Fil-A sometimes and occasionally go to Arby's

I eat at Subway, Schlotzsky's and a quick-service Japanese place in town, but those are of a totally different class than Burger King and McDonald's.
