Hey all I am a big hurricane fan and love to track them. I guess after I went though a few I would start learening about them in my old age.
But any way I went to the Dr's yesterday and he said I had cancer but what kind he wouldn't know till he got in. I have Thyroid cancer. I go Aug 2 to have surgery.
I am worried I just don't like the unknow.

I'm sorry to hear about this trial which you are now undergoing.
As others have said, there is a much brighter future for cancer patients than when we were young (I'm 52). You seem like such a positive person (from reading your posts). I would only say try to remain positive and thankful for everything in your life. Fall back on what is most real in your life (loved ones, anything which gives you genuine fulfillment), and remain hopeful. God bless you Deb.

Oh I am so very sorry to hear this as well. Being a colon cancer survivor myself this hits home. A site I frequent quite a bit is WedMD. I know it's diffiucult to provide links here now but it's usual URL, add a .com at the end. WebMD has so much info and a message board for almost every medical disease or cancer out there. Also, the American Cancer Society and the American Institute both have websites, forums, some might even host chats by now. I believe these two might have the .org URL.
I have heard that thyroid cancer is a treatable cancer with good outcomes. You will probably have to take thyroid meds for the rest of your life. Wishing you the best very here. PM me if you want to.

Deb, prayers are coming in from Houston for a full and quick recovery!!! Just tell the doctors that you belong to the largest and best Weather site on the internet and it is essential that they provide you with a laptop and high speed connection so you can continue to track the tropics.

My family doesn't have a history of cancer so I don't know how I could help you other than stay strong, keep fighting, don't give up, and if there's any opportunity to kill the cancer, no matter how expensive, DO IT. Your life is more important than to just let the doctor tell you that you can't afford something to save it.
