Safari Browser
Anyone ever use the new Safari Beta?[/quote] I had never heard of it, then someone mentioned it in the Talkin' Tropics forum and was wondering if anyone had ever tried it and what you think of it

Re: Safari Browser
I use Safari on my Mac at home. I don't like it as well as Firefox, but it's better than M$ Internet Exploder.

Re: Safari Browser
I use Sea Monkey or Mozilla browser for my default browser. I don't like IE at all.

Re: Safari Browser
I found Safari for Windows (beta) to be still buggy. I am having printing issues. The browser crashes when I try to print. I dislike both the Windows and Mac versions of Safari for the same reason I dislike IE and Netscape: the lack of extendibility of the browser.
Though Safari on my Mac does seem to open a bit faster than the others (excluding Firefox - I am excluding Firefox because when I start Firefox about 25 tabs open up at once and is slower than everything else (except, maybe IE)).

I don't understand why everyone hates IE so much. I always here people saying it sucks. But it is all I have used over the passed 3 years with 2 PCs and never had a problem, at least that I know of. Just out of curiosity what makes the other browswers so much better, and why does IE suck so bad, or what problems do you have with it.

The lack of extendibility and customization. Mozilla, not only allows, but encourages the development of third-party extensions.
Examples:
Ad-block -- block unwanted ads, pop-ups, cookies, etc
ForcastFox -- 3-day forcast in my menu bar of the browser
Gmail manager -- manage and check my two Gmail accounts without going to http://www.gmail.com
Quick Java -- easily enable and disable JavaScript
But then again, Firefox, Camino, Opera, etc are for the most part open-source projects. IE, Netscape and Safari are closed-source proprietary software.

I too can check my mail with out going to the Road Runner site. I can use the email program in the Sea Monkey suite or I can use the stand alone Thunderbird email program to download it from Road Runner. If I used IE I would have to go to Road Runner website to get my emails and I don't like the way Road Runner presents it, with flashing ads that I can't turn off.

The primary problems with Internet Exploder and Outlook are security issues. Both allow harmful scripts to damage you machine or to access your personal information. Additionally, there are cosmetic and usability features that are missing from IE, as mentioned above. Basically, if Microsoft makes it, you know it's subpar. Just look at Windows. Vista just now came out with only some of the features that have been available in Mac OS X for 7 years now, and the implementation is much poorer than in OS X.
