Re: Vonage...
I had a friend that used it. They said it was terrible, and always filled with static, as well as dropped calls. Now mind you, this is only 1 person, so your experience could be a whole lot different.

Re: Vonage...
I've had Vonage for 3 months. Occasional static ( but seems to be directly related to the use of nearby appliances ...microwave, blender or daughter on her cell phone within a few feet of the Vonage phone.)
I love being able to simply make a call without worrying about long distance charges ...HOWEVER.... my brother visited and thought he was doing me a favor by placing a collect call to his home .. they charged me $9.95 for "operator assisted call".
With the nationwide plan the taxes run about $13 extra.

I've used Vonage for about 2 and a half years now. I love it. I went with the 500 minute plan. It's even cheaper than the unlimited, and I've found that we have never used more than about 200 minutes in a month.
Call quality has been similar to our old Verizon landline which is no longer connected.

Re: Vonage...
I have used Vonage for about a year. It started off with quite poor quality calls but has improved a lot in the recent months. My only complaint really is international calls, it is hard to get a line out to take advantage of free calls abroad but apart from that it is certainly the way to go.

I use Vonage all the time. I have used it for 2 years. I have a USA Number and my daughter can call me easily ( she is in NYC) and so can all my friends. It's really helpful since I live in the islands.
and when I need to do business in the USA, I just pick up Vonage and call. It is so easy and so cheap.
The connection is usually good. I find when there is static is when my internet connection has slowed down.

I agree. I have Road Runner and like it alot. Every now and then it acts up and starts cutting out like a cell. But all and all I love it, and you can't beat the price.

Re: Vonage...
The only question I would have about signing with Vonage is that they are having big legal issues with patent infringement.

It will never affect the customers. The worst case scenario is that Vonage and Verizon work out a settlement where Vonage pays a fee to Verizon for using the technology.
As long as you have a reliable high-speed internet connection, Vonage is great. The people reporting poor quality have periods of low bandwidth on their connection. My connection is rock solid, so we have great service from Vonage.
