Tourists Kidnapped From Downtown Disney And Robbed

#1 Postby Opal storm » Mon Jun 11, 2007 12:27 pm

This is really weird, I just went to Disney World about 3 weeks ago. One night I went to Downtown Disney and there were about 5 cars in one row that were broken into when I arrived, windows shattered and everything. Apparantly me and my friend were the first ones to see it because nobody else was around so we contacted security. And now this happens...

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A pair of tourists said they were abducted from the Downtown Disney parking lot and taken on a horrifying ride.

A visiting couple said they were walking through the parking lot at Downtown Disney when they were forced into a car at gunpoint. They were then robbed and left at a landfill. Their ordeal started Saturday night.

They said three men forced them into a car at gunpoint then drove them to several convenience stores where they were forced to withdraw money from ATMs. They were then taken to a landfill in Osceola County.

The victims both thought they were going to be killed and began to fight with their attackers. One was pistol whipped before the suspects fled. The couple walked a quarter-mile to a woman's house.

"He was bloody. He had blood on his face, blood on his chest, and she was like, 'please, please, can we come in? Can we use the phone,'" said the woman who did not want to be identified. "I didn't open the door because I was scared, but I told them I'd call police."

Detectives said they were still looking into some unanswered questions. The victim's said they can't recall which stores they were taken to. They also don't have a good description of the three suspects, only that one was black, one was Hispanic, and one was white.

Investigators said the couple was lucky to be alive. During the struggle one of the suspect's guns accidentally went off, possibly scaring them away.

The Walt Disney Corporation said it was cooperating with the investigation.

You know, the greater Orlando area has become SO very crime ridden I am surprised anyone would want to go anymore. The Mouse is going to have a rough time if things dont get better there. I cant STAND driving over there for anything at all. I lived there for 2 years and was SO happy to come back to my old stomping ground here on the Space Coast. What a shame.......

Well, they will be able to pull video footage from the ATM machines when they determine which ones were used. Although it does have a strange stench to it, stranger things have happened too.

At first I was thinking the same thing as well, but there have been tons of tourist robberies the last 6-8 months.
So I dunno. Curious to hear a follow up on the story.

Some people are not happy unless they ruin others' happiness.

They can't remember which ATM's they had gone to? The bank has records! I know i can look up my bank account online and each transaction has an address where it occurred.

Obviously, security has become a issue at DW.

The Disney abduction is just the latest in several recent attacks in the tourist area.

Last month, two armed robbers attacked a German couple staying at a motel on International Drive. One of those victims was sexually assaulted and beaten.

That same night, a man was robbed by two men with a similar description at a hotel near Universal.

Then on May 30, two Orange County deputies were shot after they interrupted a car burglary in progress at the Caribe Royale Resort near Disney. Three suspects in that case are now in custody.

Except for Downtown Disney the other incidents are not on DW grounds and downtown disney is such an open area. It's not enclosed like the theme parks.

The people were from out of state so they did not have any idea where they had been. The records will show what machines were used and they can get the video footage at that point.

Read this now.......makes you wonder huh???

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The alleged victims of last week's reported kidnapping and robbery at Downtown Disney have elected not to pursue charges if the assailants are caught, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Jessica DellaCamera, 20, and Justin Stetzer 20, said that they were taken from a parking lot of Downtown Disney last Wednesday night after being forced into a car at gunpoint while walking back to their hotel room.

The couple told investigators from the Orange and Osceola county sheriff's offices that they were beaten and threatened, driven to at least two gas stations or convenience stores and forced to withdraw money from an ATM.

The duo said they were driven to a remote location in Osceola County, where they fought with their assailants until they were able to escape and run to a nearby house for assistance.

The couple chose not to assist Orange County investigators with the creation of composite drawings of the culprits nor did they want to take voice-stress examinations as part of the ongoing investigation.

Both victims signed a declination of intent, which essentially stops the ongoing criminal investigation under the premise that if an agency has no victim, it cannot have an investigation.

Orange County's active investigation into the incident has been closed, pending any new or additional information that may arise. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation.

This is weird. And that area where they were taken is covered with surveillance, have they found footage of the event?

Officials released surveillance video of one of two tourists who said they were abducted from Downtown Disney and robbed.

Surveillance video from a CVS in Kissimmee showed Justin Stetzer, 20, entering the store last weekend, taking money out of an ATM and leaving.

Stetzer said three men abducted him and his girlfriend, Jessican DellaCamera, 20. The video was recorded as DellaCamera was being held at gunpoint, police said.

The ordeal ended at an Osceola County landfill when the suspects took off after a gun was fired.

Stetzer and DellaCamera reportedly left Central Florida on Thursday.
