The Blobfish

http://img.waffleimages.com/c4147578d91 ... obfish.jpg

The blobfish is interesting for a few reasons:

- It has almost zero muscle mass. It is, quite literally, a fat, gelatinous blob that floats around the very bottom of the ocean and eats whatever it happens to float close too. Only a few of these creatures have ever been seen, due to their extreme habitats.

- It appears to be very, very sad.

Also just happens to be a distant cousin of Mr. Zoloft :darrow:

Almost like "Finding Emo" (spoof of "Finding Nemo").

Yeah, I know, I had to say that. Thanks for sharing that piece of info and pic.

Certainly a very interesting specimen. The pressures along some portions of the ocean floor have to be tremendous, so I imagine the blobfish evolved in a way that allows it to survive at such depths. There are some fascinating creatures down there!

Weird looking fish. It sure is used to the abyss. The abyss has interesting creatures yet to be known. Some live deep as the Mariana Trench.
