I really dont care but I just HAVE to ask, since there are a number of younger folks here who might be able to explain it...
So, she apparently had some comeback mini-concert at a club in California somewhere. But they were all older songs and she LIP-SYNC'ED. What exactly is the point of spending $120 to hear what you could have heard on CD for nothing? (assuming you probably already have the CD if you spent that kind of money to see her re-emergence...)
am i missing something? imagine the stink if someone like Barbara Streisand charged that kind of money for a concert and didnt really sing...

Well the places were apparently packed, so $120 is obviously fair market value.
As for Barbra, she'd probably charge more.
That being said, why anyone would spend that is beyond me.

They probably go just to see her and didn't care if she sang or not. They still flock to see Jacko and Barbs is overrated and gets way too much for concerts. I could see it with Celine, tho. Everyone has their idols. We would all pay top dollar to see them. I know if Frank Sinatra was alive, John would pay hundreds to see Frank. I know Southerngale would give her house away to sit in the front row to see Bon Jovi...

Probably was since she shaved her head cleaned. Doubt hair grows back that long, that quickly since her shaved head incident.

reportedly, yes, she was wearing a wig, and looks pretty nasty. (not in a good way)

She looks a little hard. Doesn't look like she is cleaning up her act.

She had a nervous breakdown, but in what way has she thrown her life away? She's worth significantly more than any of us, I'd wager.

What good is money if you are mentally ill. She has money for treatment, but just gets the minimum to get out. She has thrown her life away because of the way she has conducted herself in front of her children, family and the public. She has no indication that she has any respect for herself or others. I think this is a good indication her life does not amount to much... who cares how much money she has.
And a nervous breakdown was a nice term they gave to her condition. She is a nut.....

i dont call suffering from PPD having a nervous breakdown. having a ton of money doesnt mean you're doing anything worthwhile with your life. or mobsters and politicians would be saints.

PPD or nervous breakdown, the result is the same. She's made some bad choices, but I hesitate to say she's thrown her life away. She's entertained millions, even if millions of others dislike her work. That's worth something.

I don't know -- considering the only favorite of mine I have yet to see in concert is ONJ, I *might* pay that much to see her in person, even if she did lip-synch. However, I've seen her concerts on video and can tell she doesn't and probably wouldn't lip-sync. She sings a bit softer than she does on many of the studio versions and there are a number of other variations that make it obvious she's performing live to the audience. The performances I've seen are pretty laid-back and light -- certainly not the entertainment spectacles one would expect from Billy Joel or Garth Brooks. But I'd still pay.
On the other hand, I'm not a big enough fan of Britney Spears to pay to see her in concert. However, I don't think she's thrown her life away. Plenty of people who have had emotional issues and mental breakdowns ended up getting back on their feet...maybe not on the level of success we may *think* they want to live, but enough to make them happy and that's what counts. Look at Patty Duke. She had a hellacious childhood and early adulthood. She finally reached a point where many of us might have given up and shut down. But she got help, turned her life around, found the man of her dreams, and has a third son. It seems to work for her.

Hrmmmm. We don't live her life. She's been in a spotlight of sorts since she was what, 7 or 8? There's a reason child stars go on to implode, commit suicide or otherwise ruin themselves. The fact of the matter is, we don't know what she's been through and such. Its a real tragedy that children are involved, but on the other hand I've seen many people destroy their children...it isn't unique, unfortunately.
I think we're being too quick to judge here. The only information we have is filtered through the idiotic entertainment media, which is notoriously hungry for dirt and scandal.

Yes, Duckie, exactly. I'm a big Tori Amos fan. I rather doubt I'd pay $120 to see a concert (they cost about $40 or so for a ticket), but if a song or album changed my life, I might consider it.
