I bought my car almost one year ago. I have been on the phone with the company i bought it from trying to get the title. I keep getting excuses like "oh the woman doing the titles was fired" keep in mind this was in December when someone actually told me what was going on. I kept calling and all they would do is get my info and kept getting my info EVERY time I called. The last time they told me they were gonna call me and have not YET. Im told the previous owner has a lein on the title. She traded the car for a new one. The car is in my name but I cannot get it renewed until they get this straightened out and fix this. I am sooooooooooooo fed up with this. BTW they know its almost time for me to renew and i was sold a car without a clean title. Is there anything Legally I can do like going to court maybe? Im so mad im seeing yellow spots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If they dont get what they need would they have to buy the car back or take it back for any reason?

It sounds like you need legal help. Do you have a friend that's an attorney? If not, find one that'll make the company pay attorneys fees and possibly court costs if you have to take them to court.

Yup my mom went to a school with a guy who is a lawyer and he suggested a lawsuit.

Did you buy this car from a regular dealer or fly by night dealer?

Nope a actual Dodge Kia Hyundai dealer whom I used to work for and is still in business and has been since the 80's I think.

Do you have a Bill of Sale or something showing the price you purchased it for, etc. If you do I'm thinking maybe call the Dept of Motor Vehicles and ask them what to do

My next step would be to take my paperwork that I got when I purchased the car and walk my happy behind in the middle of the store when it was full of people and loudly ask if anyone could please give you the title of the car you purchased from them over a year ago! This should get someones attention, maybe the Manager or the Owner of the Dealership!!!!! If no title is forthcoming, then I would drive directly to an attorneys office and have him send them a letter and follow-up with a phone call. This usually will do the job and if you find a nice enough attorney they won't even charge you for writing a letter or making a phone call.

Unfortunately this was happening here in Moss Point at a Used Car Dealership and the owner has recently been sentenced to jail for fraudlently obtaining loans in peoples names using their info. The titles were found in a drawer where a woman had quit had job and just left them stuffed there. Hopefully this is not the same thing that is happening with you.

Mississippi law requires you to transfer the title of your vehicle if you have purchased it used, or if you have moved into the state with a car titled in another state. You must also transfer your vehicle registration within seven days of purchase or within 30 days of establishing residence in the state.

Form 78-002, available at your county tax collector's office, car dealerships, and some banks and financial institutions, must be completed to transfer your vehicle title. You will also need to provide an odometer disclosure, the Certificate of Title that names you as new owner, and the Bill of Sale.

I found this on the MS DMV website. Obviously it was done or you shouldnt have been able to register your car in the first place. Do you have your Title Transfer document?
