Help Support Storm2k

Hi, everyone!

As I'm sure you all have noticed, the weather maps on our homepage haven't been working for the past couple of months. We have new and exciting features planned for you though. The monthly server cost went up with our last host change and it also costs us a nice chunk each month to bring you the customized weather maps. We believe these features are important to Storm2k, but we do rely on donations to help pay for the cost of everything. No matter how big or small, every donation is helpful and greatly appreciated.

We are working hard to give you what you want in a weather site and we want you all to feel at home here at Storm2k. Our funds have been really low lately and we need your donations to keep Storm2k running smoothly and get our homepage customized and ready for Hurricane Season. No donation is too small, but please give what you can.

If you send a donation, please PM an Admin or another staff member so that you can get your "Storm2k supporter badge" if you so desire.

There's a donate button on the top of every forum page. Simply click the button and it will take you to the donate form/page.

If you prefer to send a check or money order, you can send your donation directly to Marshall (mf_dolphin) and he will transfer the funds to the Storm2k account. You can send those to:

Marshall Frank
1847 58th Street S
Gulfport, FL 33707

Thank you in advance for your support.

To me this is like the NPR fund drive. If you use it, you should help pay for it. I sent $50 and will send more as the season progresses. Come on, people, send something. I'm sure every dollar helps. I'm issuing a personal challenge for folks who havent donated yet to send at least $5.

I sent my $50 in a couple weeks ago too. I will send more too. This is a great site and if everyone would chip in a bit, even $5 adds up so fast.

Chad, maybe you could highlight this post so more people can see it. Unless people look on the very top, they will nt see it..... put balloons, etc.... :D

We do really appreciate every dollar we get because every one does truly help. I can also tell you that even the staff of this site donates. I know I do and I know of others that have too. This site truly is a labor of love and we do need your support if we are to continue to be what we have become.

I gave last month or march, can't remember for sure. I love the site especially when there is a hurricane coming at me! ;) When I gave, I wondered about the following which did

Is this site a nonprofit or is it for profit? Would you be opposed to supplying financial information on a consistent basis?

I do not mind making the donation given what the site gives back to me over the period of the hurricane season, but I might have given more had I understood the situation more.

The site is totally non-profit. There is no paid staff at all. We all volunteer our time. Anything donated goes back into the operation of Storm2k.

Would you be opposed to supplying financial information on a consistent basis?
I believer Marshall actually posted some information earlier(last month) in one of the threads about the funds drive that gave a rundown of the expenses for a month. As owners, mf_dolphin(Marshall) and chadtm80(chad)are the ones who make the decision as to what to publish about the financial of the site.

Well, I do think that maybe displaying an annual budget and showing donations todate would be beneficial, but only as maybe a button next to the 'make a donation' button. So, that it is prominent, but not imposing nor begging. Unfortunately this does require some work. This is just a suggestion and I won't bring it up again! ;)

I have always thought that this site does an excellent job and is made up of some very motivated and intelligent volunteers and thank you for it! :)

kranki I have no problem with showing the financials for the site. Maybe a monthly report on donations and expenses and including a funds on hand amount. I'd also like to thank you for the kind words about the site. There are a lot of members and staff that have poured their hearts into S2K over the years.
