I am doing my high school research paper. I had other choices, but these subtopics will be the easiest to keep my opinion out of. I dont know much about any of them, so I need your opinion. It cannot be the pyramids because it has to be nonpresent events, places, or things. It also has to be at least 2 pages, but I am going for at least 5 possibly 10 pages if possible. (double spaced.) The poll will end in 7 days from this post.
Thank You in advance.

You're allowed to use a poll on a weather board for your paper?
Anyway, voted for the Statue of Zeus in Olympia.

nothing will be going into my paper from the board other than the choice that I pick.

^^ It has to be non-present. The fact that you were able to type that doesn't qualify you

What is present anyways? That is the past man. I mean me when I wrote that post. ; )

On a serious note, the Library of Alexandria. If it has to be one of those on the list, then... I am conflicted. Probably the Lighthouse of Alexandria. It is after all more of a feat than planting trees on terraces, making giant statues of Greek deities, or a tomb. The Lighthouse at least helped ships not sink.
But don't believe any of that nonsense about the lighthouse catching the sails of ships on fire. Thats mythology.

I've heard it stated that were it not for the distruction of that library and all of the knowledge contained in its books, technology would be so far advanced today that we would probably be well on our way to the nearest stars instead of messing about with the Moon and Mars.

I have never heard that, but I find it a very plausible idea. Of course with that kind of thinking comes the thought that this world and many of the early wonders of it, may have been built with the help of "others", whoever you may believe that may be.

I have made some very impressive structures out of Legos, K'nex, and erector sets in my time. None of them are still standing.

Hanging Gardens for me. A lot of info on the net and several subjects within the subject including an interesting way of watering the gardens.
