More recalls. We use this food - but thankfully not the venison flavor.

We are receiving consumer complaints regarding the Venison & Brown Rice Dry Dog Food, and Venison & Green Pea Dry Cat Foods. We do not know what is wrong with the food at this time, but we have heard that animals are vomiting and experiencing kidney problems. Although the problems seem to be focused on one particular lot, as a precautionary measure, we are pulling all dates of Venison & Brown Rice Dry Dog Food and Venison & Green Pea Dry Cat Food from the shelves.

and yet more: from MSNBC:

Pet food manufacturer Menu Foods expanded its recall Thursday because of possible cross-contamination between melamine-tainted products and other foods made in the same period.

The expansion includes cuts and gravy pet food, as well as other products that were not made with the contaminated wheat gluten supplied by ChemNutra Inc., but were manufactured during the period the chemical-laced gluten was used.

The company based its decision on study results that revealed cross-contamination, as well as one report from a customer.

The recall now includes additional pet food products in the United States, Canada and Europe. It also expands the date ranges of previously recalled products to match the period that melamine-tainted wheat gluten was used in manufacturing plants.

More than 100 brands of pet food have been recalled since March 16 because they were contaminated with melamine. An unknown number of dogs and cats have been sickened or died after eating chemical-laced pet food.

We buy our cat and dog food from Sam's Club. John talked to the manager and asked him about the pet foods in the store. The Manager said they keep up with the warnings and will pull any foods that deem bad.

That is all we can do. We have to shop there, cause we have tons of cats..... And, I have to say, thru the years we have been here, eating their food has not caused them any sickness, etc. They are as healthy as can be.
Their main pet foods have all the necessary vitamins, etc. that an animal needs.

We only buy dry foods.
