Thanks everyone. David, to answer your question... I have been coaching speech and debate for three years now, with quite a bit of success. I have been doing this while still attending college. Balancing both has been a real struggle. GPA has suffered a bit. Otherwise, I would likely have a 4.0 rather than a 3.8. I will be graduating in December but since I was offered the job I can petition to do my student teaching as a teacher of record, which is a very rare opportunity! I applied just to let them know I was interested and to see how far along in the process I could get, not even imagining that they would hire me... but they did. And I am so excited!

You'll get paid for your student teaching? Nice! You'll be the envy of other students!

Geez Garrett!!! Only a 3.8???  You sound like my niece the doctor who was upset with her 3.75 graduating Rice and going to med school!!! All I can say is WOWSERS!!!! All your answers are in the fact they have hired you!!!! What an AWESOME TEACHER those students and that school district are going to have!!!! We won't even make mention of what my GPA was while I was in school!!!

Funny you should mention that. In the past three years working at the school, I have become known as the "weather guy". Students and even teachers will often ask me about the weather before a big storm, cold snap, heat wave, etc. It is quite humorous.
