Thats called a Frilled Shark, I've read about them.
They live way down deep and are rarely seen alive.

It was probably sick and is why it surfaced. They never come out of the depths.

Calamity, I'm so glad that you posted that link where I could see it - thanks!
Evidently, they showed video on WSMV Nashville on Friday night, and, my
mother told me about it, knowing I am interested in anything prehistoric.
I could never find the link on WSMV website, and, produced nothing by Googling.
It looks like something from an "Alien" movie - awesome!

I was going to show hubby the video, but its not there anymore. I get this message.

EDIT: I found this video there where it shows the video of the shark swimming and also after it died when they tried to move it to captivity.
