hmmmm. This is interesting. It sounds like this is going to be a big fiasco, though. I guess we have reached the place where celebrities are in fact immune to the law of any country.

It's not just celebrities, it's the extremely wealthy. For the most part, they are immune to laws. There are exzceptions, but they are few and far between.

one could also look at it from the perspective that one more child will be able to live a decent life.

I look at it the same way. I think that celebrities and the wealthy should use their power to get around laws when it can benefit another.

Who has been hurt by this "abuse of power?"

hmmm, i have to question madonnas motives here. will the child be better off? thats far far from certain. for all we know the child could end up as a warped drug addict or worse

So a celebrity should be able to take your child from you, since they can probably give the kid a better life than you can?

I did read that the child's biological father favored the adoption. But I still have the gripe that laws were circumvented because of who she is and how much money she has. Even the Malawi government has admitted that they bent the rules for her. The law is the law, and it is there for a reason.

Yes, if I've given the child up for adoption. I don't know why everyone is forgetting that the father was happy that the child was getting a home up until the last few days. Giving up your child for adoption is a decision that is final.
