With the upcoming 4th of July weekend, wonder how many of you are planning a camping trip? If so, do you *rough* it or do you, like millions of other Americans, *camp in luxury?* I swear, this is the BUSIEST weekend I've EVER seen on this mountian top :o and the heck of it, it's NOT even the weekend yet! Anyways, I've witnessed ALL these HI TECH campers heading to the high country with there motor homes and travel trailers with Direct TV dishes on top, ATV'S etc, etc, I'm sure they have their portable DVD players, Gameboys, Gamecubes, Cell Phones, now I ask, why even GO camping if you NEED all this techo junk????

What????? I can't believe you are saying that, That IS roughing it Dennis. My Gosh, where have you been man.........j/k lol

I agree with you. That is just nuts. I have an older 5th wheel camper, but not any of the other luxuries. I have to admit though, we have brought a television and VCR on occasion, but that was when we were supposed to have some inclimate weather. Now, we are selling the camper and are going to rent cabins if we do anything. Not much more of a roughing it experience trhan a camper, but close enough for me.

Call me old fashion, when we go, it's *low tech*, NO tv, no radio, VERY few modern day techno stuff, gimme a camp fire to cook on, a stream to wash the dishes up in and the WIDE OPEN spaces without having to listen to *crap* music being blasted one camping spot over!

Personally, I prefer that kind too Dennis, but the li'l lady and the younguns over rule me on that. Kids now days have no sense of adventure. I think I will bring them on a real camping trip this summer and let them experience it for themselves. I'lll bet you that they enjoy it, especially when we start catchin' them thar walleyes.

I'm BORED. Boy do I hate those 2 words. You take them into a campground with endless things to do, or just camping in the woods at a private land and you hear those 2 words. You're right Blizzard in someways they have forgotten how to find entertainment without electronic games or tv.

The last camping I did was in Vietnam...and believe me, I didn't have a Game Boy.

Dennis, if ever Kathy and I decide to head your way for a weekend of camping, you can expect we'll have a "mini'winnie" to stay in or we won't be camping at all.

Big babies...that's what we are!

I have been camping twice. Both times I was at a campground but other then a radio and some flashlights nothing really high tech. I have never had a game cube or any of that other stuff.

How about when I have to sleep on the couch. Does that count?

Ed...by your definition, I have been camping a number of times since Vietnam. Mostly one nighters, but a couple were for weekend outings.

...and each one of those camping experiences were followed by chilly air and breakfast for one!

Ah yes......campin' with the dogs in their house LOL! Can't say I've ever had to do that, now Dennis, telling a lie is JUST as bad as commiting murder LOL!

Hunter, Blizzard........no truer words have been spoken, kids nowa days have NO CLUE what it's like to be out in the woods, my God.......there is ALWAYS something to do, something to see, just sitting on a rock on the river bank listening to the water, THAT to me, IS HEAVEN!

Now......we have a pop up tent trailer, no extras, just a place to sleep, that's all, no heater, no running water etc. Steve, now come on.....let's tell the truth here, we're ALL getting a little older and nice comfy *minnie Winnie* "at times" sounds good! JUST KIDDING!!! There's nuthin wrong with a mini motor home, especially for those without young uns AND cannot sleep on the hard ground anymore DUE to the aging process, NAAAAAAA.....there's no one here in THAT kinda shape, right???

When my wife and I go camping, we go to a campground that has bathrooms and showers. But we sleep in a tent (no electricity) and often cook food over a campfire.
