I am looking into upgrading to a Digital camcorder. My old one that belongs in the Smithsonian needs to replace since it is not working now and I am missing out on a lot of the girls' ballets, etc. I was looking at Dell and they have the Canon's on sale.
I was thinking about getting a Canon ZR300 for about $359.00. Is it a good camera for just taking a videos of the girls and the occasional storms that we get in South Alabama? Does anyone here have it? Is that a good price? I have look several places it is seems that it is around $400 and above.

I have no experience with that personally, but I will say that it may well be worth considering one of the new DVD camcaorders. I recently bought a tape camcorder and already regret not doing enough research and getting a DVD one.

These camcorders that record onto digital memory cards are better than DVD recorders, in my opinion. You can take video off of the memory card and use it to burn a DVD on your computer, but you don't have to waste DVD's on video that turns out to be not so good.
