E-Mail Scam Attempts To Capitalize On Surviving Miner's Condition

Mine disaster survivor Randal McCloy remains in critical condition -- but now there is word from the Federal Bureau of Investigation that someone is taking advantage by pretending to collect donations for McCloy's family.

The FBI says an e-mail is going around requesting money for McCloy.

It asks that people send money to McCloy's doctor, Larry Roberts, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

The doctor isn't involved in the scam and the hospital is aware of it.

The e-mail says it will take several million dollars to get McCloy back to a normal state of life.

The FBI doesn't know how many of these e-mails have been sent out.

Anyone who receives the e-mail is asked to contact the Internet Fraud Complaint Center at the FBI.
