Shannon's Christmas Greeting
Posted: Tue Dec 20, 2005 7:26 am
As promised during her deployment, I wanted to pass along her Christmas wishes to everyone here at S2k.....
I just wanted to pass along a Merry Christmas to everyone back home. I have heard from a few of my friends and family members that the ‘Shannon countdown’ has been in full swing. I understand that you can’t wait to see me; however, using a countdown surprisingly slows down the day. I’ll check my circle of freedom countdown wheel every so often, but I don’t make a habit of checking it (alright, alright… I have 22 days left here; 23 til I arrive back in Baltimore). Your care packages have been slowly arriving… that right there is Christmas day… opening a present you barely have a hint about (Blame the customs paperwork for that)
This deployment has been a challenge, yet a relief that it is almost over. Yes, I’ve been over here for well above 3 months already… over 6 months since I’ve been in the Fox Cities. Time has definitely flown by (no pun intended). Happy news came my way a couple of days ago. Direct orders from a Pentagon 2 star General, is that, we are to spend our 2 weeks R & R back HOME – Back home in Wisconsin at the 440th. J Not Charleston, not any other location, but Milwaukee (oops the Fox Cities). However, we are not fully aware of when our Charleston departure date is. That my friend is a mystery I cannot solve.
Have a wonderful Christmas… stay safe and warm.
