THE WEATHER CHANNEL AND SKYWORKS TECHNOLOGIES LAUNCH THE FIRST ONLINE GAMES FEATURING REAL-TIME WEATHER!

Realistic 3-D Golf and Driving Games Allow weather.com Visitors to Experience Live Weather Conditions from the Comfort of their Web Browsers

Press Release: Nov 30, 2005

ATLANTA GA AND HACKENSACK NJ - The Weather Channel Interactive and Skyworks Technologies, Inc. have teamed up to launch two breakthrough games on weather.com. The new games combine expert weather data from The Weather Channel and leading in-the-browser game technology from Skyworks to engage site visitors in realistic and immersive interactive entertainment.

The Weather Channel Golf Game challenges players to step up to the tee on a par 3 and attempt to hit a hole-in-one. Unlike other computer golf games, The Weather Channel Golf Game includes a live weather feed enabling players to take shots that are impacted by the current or forecast weather for any golf course in the United States. Now golfers can practice their tee shot in heavy rain and a strong headwind without getting wet.

The Weather Channel Driving Game is a realistic 3D four wheeling adventure where players navigate the challenges of a twisting mountain road environment, in either summer or winter driving conditions. As with golf, players will control the weather within the game by choosing a location and time to play and both games allow players to challenge friends to top their best results.

“People expect The Weather Channel to deliver comprehensive and accurate weather data on weather.com and along with that we strive to offer visitors engaging and unique weather-based content,” said Tom Flournoy, vice president of product management for The Weather Channel Interactive. “Our new golf and driving games are ideal extensions of our weather programming that enable our visitors to be entertained by the weather while providing our advertisers a great opportunity to reach them.”

Skyworks is a leader in the design and development of custom branded advergames for the world’s leading brands and media properties. The Weather Channel games are positioned to offer sponsors the opportunity to seamlessly integrate their brand and messaging into a powerful branded entertainment experience.

Garry Kitchen, CEO and co-founder of Skyworks Technologies, Inc. said, “The Weather Channel has always been an innovator in ‘bringing weather to life.’ By combining our best-of-class games with innovative real time forecasts from The Weather Channel, we’ve succeed in bringing weather into the gaming experience in a unique and relevant way.”

Why would we want to copy TWC? They are a day late and a dollar short when it comes to games. They are just trying to make up for everything they have lost after their treatment of their members(many now here) over the last few years. I'm registered there, but I do not post there!!
